Overview
The Center of Expertise Leisure, Tourism & Hospitality (CELTH) is making a significant investment of 20,000 euros in the “Healthy Placemaking for a Better Society” project, set to be showcased at the World Leisure Congress 2025 in Breda. Starting in September, this initiative will focus on Hart van Zuid in Rotterdam and its surrounding neighborhoods (Bloemhof, Carnisse, Tarwewijk, Vreewijk, Zuidplein, and Zuidwijk), aiming to design and implement interventions that promote healthy placemaking practices and ensure long-term stakeholder engagement.
Research Focus
Our research will explore how placemaking interventions can enhance the quality of life in these neighborhoods, identifying and implementing specific strategies that foster vibrant, healthy communities. A key aspect is ensuring that these interventions are tailored to the needs of local residents, businesses, and organizations, creating a collaborative framework that supports ongoing community development and well-being.
