Last week, Roos Gerritsma, associate professor at Knowledge Center ARC of Inholland, presented the first phase of her Professional Doctorate (PD), on the basis of which she intends to further complete her PhD project on urban regenerative tourism.
Together with Professor Dr. Ko Koens Inholland, Professor Dr. Karoline Wiegerink The Hague Hotelschool, senior project manager Anne Ruiter Dienst Grond&Ontwikkeling Gemeente Amsterdam and managing director Insights & Marketing Strategy Maya Janssen of amsterdam&partners, Roos discussed her portfolio in a positive and constructive conversation: all the steps she has taken in data management, in-depth studies, lab innovations, self-reflections and her paper: Activating an urban regenerative tourism approach: practices and interventions through a living lab setting in Amsterdam North. This theoretical and practice-based paper lays the foundation for further building her case study.
Roos Gerritsma: “I am now about a quarter of the way through my PD journey. Over the past 15 months I have been able to outline the core elements of my study, which are reflected in the title of the paper. During the assessment, this gave a nice starting point to discuss this, from everyone’s perspective. It also gave confirmation of what I want to explore in the coming years, namely: the relationship between interventions to co-create – in this case Amsterdam Noord – and how that can influence a more general, systemic level. I want to start testing my Loops for Labs model and measure what impact/impact we achieve with this as Urban Leisure & Tourism Lab Amsterdam.”
The final assessment of Roos’ first phase will be taken on Friday, June 13, by the PD Graduate Committee Leisure Tourism & Hospitality.
